Children, mental health, worried parents and common sense education.

In my experience as clinical psychologist specializing in the area of mental health in children and adolescents, I have found that often all that you, the worried parent require, is information, to lower your stress levels significantly. I have also found that you want it in plain English, in a easily digestible form without the sugar coating or waffle that often accompanies the information given by many professionals. I have often said that psychology and mental health is 90% common sense (but don't let that get out or I will be out of a job), you the parent already know what to do or are part the way there, you only need someone to repackage it in a clear way and hand it back to you. This leads us to the aim of this site, I will start to compile a collection of easy to read straight forward articles and “packages” of information for you to use to educate yourselves and answer the questions that cause distress for you as a parent. I will address issues that I often come across in my practice and will be happy answer questions that you wish to ask. Feel free you use the comments feature or email me any questions that you would like to have answered on my site. I can guarantee, if it's an issue to you its an issue to hundreds of other parents.
